Lincoln Hates Beets: A Game of Senseption. An image of Lincoln looking at a plate of beets mocked up in a very, ahem, scary way by ChatGPT.

Lincoln Hates Beets is a creatively fun (and surprisingly deep) party board game where players win by embracing curiosity, connection and communication.

When will it be out?

Our plan is to launch a Kickstarter on Tuesday, Oct 7, 2025 with a delivery date of around February or March 2026.

How much will it cost?

Probably $33 with a earlybird Kickstarter discount at $29. Probably cheaper if we amass backers before launch.

Can kids play?

All of the concepts, perceptions and senses are relatively kid-friendly, but it’s best for kids over 14 or so. (The most NSFW elements would be things like deathbed wishes or the smell of tequila.)

How’d you come up with the idea?

Alex is an author and creativity expert who developed Sense Ratings, an exercise she uses with everyone she teaches. (Fun fact: she also designed a board game 15 years ago.) Jarmo, a software architect with a knack for designing patterns, posed a simple question one chilly January night: If you were to create another board game, what would it be? Four days later, Lincoln Hates Beets was born. Two weeks later, they had a fully playable cardstock prototype.
